Final projects related to some aspect of papermaking that connected with identity and/or culture. Students, coming from disciplines ranging from finance to communications to biology, mostly worked in their home papermaking studios using mould and deckles made during class.
Introduction to Book Arts, The University of Alabama
Final projects were either an artist book or a binding example (or papermaking portfolio) made with basic bookbinding tools but without access to book arts studios. Projects made in Spring 2020 were made at home during the COVID-19 lockdown. Students, most of whom were not art majors, also worked on a collaborative pamphlet book using the papermaking and letterpress studios on campus (final images). Fall 2019 & Spring 2020.
